OK let’s chat about – on the day wedding stationery!
You’ll normally know where you stand with invitations, save the dates and RSVP’s but some people seem to get a little confused when it comes to cool and unique on the day wedding stationery.
The big question and the one this blog post will hopefully answer or inspire you about is – what do you really need on the day?!?
Up first we have the Order of Service. If you’re getting married in a church we would definitely recommend having an order of service, it’s something that will enable your guests to follow the service making those moments extra special and there are loaaaaaaads of cool, quirky things you can do to show off your personality as a couple and share your unique story.
It doesn’t have to be a normal booklet it could be anything! We have done some pretty awesome designs over the years 😉
Another option for you is an Order of the Day. Why not have one for each guest waiting on their seats during the ceremony or make a much bigger statement sign or even have a hanging fabric piece which becomes a focal point for guests to know a rough plan of the day.
Again, you can add plenty of personal touches including elements from your stationery or bespoke illustrations to show off your unique personality as a couple.
Bespoke illustrations – are our FAVE to do!
Always a must at the wedding breakfast, this is the one ‘on-the-day- stationery’ item guests will gather around because well, food does that to people 😉 A beautifully designed seating plan transforms into a helpful seating guide for your guests to know who they are sitting with and where in the room their table is located. When you think of table plan many brides often think of a simple sign incorporating elements of their stationery, which is the typical classic style you can go for, but you don’t HAVE to do that. You could mix it up with a fabric hanging table plan or hang your table numbers on trees in foliage wrapped hoops – even have your table plans on an acrylic sign – the possibilities are absolutely endless.
We love quirky statement pieces like these, they’re right up our street and become part of what makes your day even more special. They almost become part of the theme for your wedding.
Once your guests have finally found their designated seat on your (awesome) table plan, they need to know which table’s which, right? That’s where your table numbers come in – or perhaps table names? The classic option most brides go for it’s very often numbers, but who’s to say that’s what you have to do. You could go for places you’ve visited together, special dates, things you love as a couple just so long as people know where they’re going you’ll be onto a winner. After choosing your style, it’s then all about how you display the names. You could go for a really simple framed design on an acrylic stand and even add gold foil touches – those look FAB! Our favourites this year are:
Next, there are guest place cards. Most couples already know what they need and how they want these displayed, but the great thing about them is that almost anything is possible. You can opt for traditional fold-up place cards, but why not add some special touches like hand applied gold foil, maybe a small illustration? You can attach your place cards to already printed menus incorporating your stationery led designs. Also you can upgrade your name place cards with an eyelet element tied up with hand dyed silk detail – options are endless.
A real elegant addition to a wedding are menus, which add an extra touch of class to any wedding. They’re also helpful for guests who might want to save a little bit of room if they’re favourite dessert is coming up! 😉 People like to know what they’re expecting to eat, even if you’ve gone for a table buffet, it’s still good to know what you’ve got to choose from. They’re a really nice touch for the table itself and it’s up to you whether you’d like to create a personal option. Bring the menu to life with bespoke illustrations or use an illustrative type font, but you can always go with a gorgeous simple design with a wax seal upgrade. Add a stunning copper paper clip with a guest name combined – the choice is endless.
Have a look at some beautiful designs we’ve done over a few past months.
Another big trend right now is signage and a lot of brides ask us about what options are available. So let me start at the beginning – Welcome signs. These aren’t a necessity (budget dependent) we’d highly recommend focusing on some of the pieces we have mentioned so far. However, we just love to create them and it’s always a really nice, friendly gesture to welcome your friends and family on your special the day. The words and materials you choose can create a real statement piece and set the tone for the rest of the day. And hey, you can always hang it at home afterwards as a special memento right?!
We love creating all types of signs we’re loving Bar signs right now. They’re probably not right for every wedding and venue but if you have some fancy cocktails or a few bespoke drinks, why not shout about them?! And the great thing is there are so many options and ways to bring them to life. You can hang them from the ceiling for real statement piece, stand them on the bar, rest them on crates for an outdoor or barn wedding and even go for something smaller and have one per table.
Social media signs are another massive trend at the moment and who doesn’t love a wedding # hashtag eh?! If you are creating one then it’s good to let your guests know so they can get their best shots up on the ‘gram! However, you don’t necessarily need a separate sign for this. There are many ways to build it into the rest of your on the day stationery. We could incorporate the # on your table plan, your table numbers or even your guest place cards – the choice is yours.
I think we’ve got it all covered! There’s plenty of inspiration and most importantly hopefully an indication for you to work out what are the must-haves and nice-to-haves for your on the day stationery. We’d love to help you so if you have any questions or would like us to create your on the day stationery, please give us a shout.
Happy planning.
